Instructions for the ABA-PTL list

ABA-PTL is a public list, and the archives is available the general public. Therefore, you do not need to be a subscriber to ABA-PTL to retrieve threads from the archives. ABA-PTL has a Web-based archive located at the American Bar Association's Web site.

To read the full text of the thread on the Web:
Click on "View the Thread" in the Details box of the review. This will connect you to the ABA-PTL archives. A new browser window will open, containing a list of all of the messages in the thread. Click on the Item # of each item in the left-hand column to read the full text of that message. Please note that it may take anywhere from a few seconds to more than a minute for the list to appear, depending on Internet traffic conditions. The list will include all messages in the thread, including any posted after the LawThreads® review was written.

Once the list appears, you can proceed through the thread chronologically. Click on the first item to read it. After reading each message, use your browser's "Back" button to return to the list of messages, then click on the next item on the list to read that message.

To return to the LawThreads® issue you were reading, close the browser window.

To have the full text of all messages in the thread sent to you by e-mail:
For threads beginning after January 1, 2000, enter your e-mail address in the "Get it by e-mail" section of the Details box, and click on the "Mail It" button. This sends a message to the ABA server requesting that all the messages in that thread be sent to you in a single e-mail. Please note that when you obtain threads by e-mail, any additional messages added to the thread after the review was written are not retrieved. For ABA-PTL threads beginning prior to January 1, 2000, e-mail feature is not operational.
